”Homoeopathy cures a larger percentage of cases than any other method of treatment and is beyond doubt safer and more economical and most complete medical science."
Mahatma Gandhi
Homoeopathy - Helping AIDS sufferers in Africa
Please NOTE: Despite reports to the contrary, we are not against the
treatment of AIDS with conventional medicines like Anti Retroviral's (ARV's). Rather, we believe that homeopathy can help mitigate the side effects of
these drugs making them far far more effective. We do not recognize
the artificial divisions between different branches of medicine encouraged
by vested interests such as drug companies and even radically old fashioned
homeopaths.
Homeopathy is in many cases effective despite the fact that many people
are not eligible for ARV's yet as their CD4 counts are too high. We
are working every day with people on the ground in various parts of Africa.
Help us to help the world. And please, don't get caught up in the
politics and misinformation created by vested and evil interests. What we
have said above we believe as we see the positive results every day. The
witch hunt against homeopathy has been funded by vested interests and they
would do better to see the benefits of helping people rather than seeing us
as a threat to their profits.
THE PROBLEM
“The end of AIDS is nowhere in sight.”
Peter Piot, United Nations AIDS Director
About
AIDS
AIDS is
devastating Africa. Estimates are that somewhere between 24 and 30 million
Africans are infected with
HIV and 1.5 to 2 million die of AIDS each year The disease
has left an estimated 14 million children orphans. This problem
is not confined to the basement the
African continent. AIDS is one of the worst pandemics the world has ever
seen. And though billions of dollars are pouring into AIDS projects, in many
countries things are only getting worse. This situation needs
a radical approach, and we believe
homoeopathy can play a
substantial part in the solution.
About The Project
Our project has several objectives;
1) To treat as many AIDS patients as possible, so as to relieve suffering 2)
To develop a homoeopathic understanding of the disease. This understanding should
enable us to list the homeopathic remedies which are most
successful in treating AIDS. 3) To make
our project sustainable by spreading this
knowledge and the related remedies
throughout Tanzania and Africa, so that local health practitioners will be
able to prescribe these remedies
to large masses of people. 4) To produce formal and
ethical research on the
treatment of AIDS with
homoeopathy so as to
show the world what it is able
to achieve. 6) To help with
education and nutrition as far as possible.
Our
progress so far
We
have opened several homoeopathy clinics in rural villages. As well
as practicing in the clinics we have many outreach
programs, visiting patients at home
when they are too sick or
poor to travel. We have also
opened a community centre for PLHA (People living with HIV/AIDS), mainly
widows who have no resources at all. Here we supply education, food
programs, exercise programs
and a sense of community. We have
opened a day care centre for children of AIDS widows.
We
have initiated several food projects to help supply sustainable solutions to
the problem of poverty and malnutrition. We have supplied seeds for vegetables as well as chickens,
pigs and goats.
There
has been an extremely positive response and word of mouth of our success has
spread far and wide. Patients are coming from long
distances, and many doctors have expressed support and interest.
Once we
are established we will invite more homoeopaths to come
to Tanzania to participate in the project. We
aim to open homoeopathic schools
in Tanzania and help spread
homoeopathy throughout the
whole of Africa, training doctors, homeopathic professionals, nurses and
local practitioners.
Declaration
We have an absolute non interference policy as
regard conventional
medicine. This means that no patient has, or will be, advised or encouraged
to stop conventional medication. On the contrary, we help many people get to
hospital for advice and check-ups. By reducing the side effects of ARV’s we
allow patients to stay on each line of drugs for longer. In this way
homoeopathy is complementary
to conventional medicine, and many local doctors are encouraged by these
successes.
Our
Associates
We
have partnered with two local NGOs
: TREDO (Tanzania
Rural Education and Development Organization), and KACA, Kilimanjaro AIDS
Control Centre. They are
very impressed with our results and supply us with an endless stream
of patients.
We
have the support and endorsement from the Ministry of Health
and the local authorities.
Why
Homoeopathy
In
many ways homoeopathy is the perfect medicine for persons suffering from
AIDS, and particularly in Africa. AIDS means Acquired Immune Deficiency
Syndrome. Homoeopathy works
by stimulating and
enhancing the immune system
and therefore it
is precisely in this disease that homoeopathy can be most effective.
Homoeopathy
is a system of medicine with an outstanding
record of cures, both in individual and epidemic diseases. Homoeopathy
was extremely effective in the great flu pandemic of 1918, and the cholera
epidemics of the 19th century.
Homeopathy has proved
effective in yellow
fever, whooping cough, polio, typhus, and malaria.
Today, homoeopaths
all over the world are having very promising results with AIDS patients, substantially improving
their well being and restoring health. In
many developing countries, homoeopathy is integrated into the system of
health care (India, Mexico, Brazil and Cuba,
for example). In India, where homoeopathy is on an equal legal
footing with conventional medicine, there are an estimated quarter of a
million homoeopaths. Approximately 186 homoeopathic medical colleges,
some 35 of which are government colleges, train 10,000 new homoeopaths every
year. The Indian Health Ministry has found homoeopathy most
significant in improving maternal infant health. In Brazil 9 million
people use homoeopathy. 15,000
Brazilian doctors, a large number of them pediatricians practice
homoeopathy, a medical specialty recognized by
Brazilian law since 1980. But homoeopathy is not confined to the
developing world – it is also popular throughout Europe-- Germany, France,
Italy, Ireland, UK, Holland,
Switzerland – for example 40% of the French population regularly choose
homoeopathy and the Swiss voted in a national referendum to include
homoeopathy as a medical choice. A long
term study in Ireland recently proved homoeopathy to be extremely effective
within the national health system.
While
conventional medicine aims to fight the virus, and is able to buy time for
the patient, there is no radical change in the underlying health. In effect, conventional medicine only supplies a temporary relief, often at a great
cost financially, and with many severe side effects.
"Homoeopathy
is the safest and more reliable approach to ailments and has withstood the
assaults of established medical practice for over 100 years."
Yehudi Menuhin, World
famous violinist
Why
Africa
Homoeopathy
is perfect for Africa because people of Africa understand and respect
natural systems of healing. It is not a foreign intrusion on their way
of thinking, but an integral part of their belief system and culture.
Homoeopathy is very affordable, even for the poorest Africans, while
orthodox drugs are expensive, and often unavailable. Homoeopathy has
no side effects, and is
easy to teach at a
basic level, so that local
doctors, nurses and healers can
learn and use it to
treat this pandemic.
Why
Tanzania
Tanzania
is one of the poorest countries in the world. However, it is also one of the
most future oriented countries in Africa, with positive policies on
alternative and traditional medicine, and in particular on homoeopathy. When
the Tanzanian government witnessed the radical results of homoeopathy with
malaria and other tropical diseases, they fully embraced homoeopathy as one
of the official medicines of Tanzania.
Several
other African countries have taken up homoeopathic practices (Ghana, Kenya,
Swaziland, Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe, to name a few). Sadly the
pharmaceutical companies have been worried by the increased popularity of
homoeopathy, and have been trying to block its progress by a variety of
means. The low cost and effectiveness of this medicine seem to pose a threat
to commercial values. This concern is unwarranted. Many times
homoeopathy is used in a complementary way to pharmaceuticals and in
conditions where no conventional medicine treatment exists. However,
the important measure is that patients are very happy with homoeopathic
treatment. They appreciate its gentle effectiveness, their increased
wellbeing and their return to productive lives for themselves and their
families.
Why
Jeremy Sherr
Jeremy
Sherr has practiced and taught homoeopathy for 29 years. He is well known
throughout the world as an international lecturer, and is
head of the longest established post graduate course in the world. Jeremy
has taught homoeopathy in
the USA, Europe, Canada,
China, India, Japan, Russia, South Africa, New Zealand and
Australia. He is
the author of several
books and
numerous articles on
homoeopathy, has conducted
various research programs and developed homoeopathic software.
Jeremy has a large base of
students, both doctors and professionals, who believe in the 'Homoeopathy
for Health in Africa’ project and
are willing to join him in making it a reality.
The
Vision
We
believe that there is a possibility to make a huge and substantial
difference to the AIDS epidemic in Africa, to relieve suffering and restore
health. We believe that there is no disease or situation that does not have
an inherent solution. We
believe that homoeopathic medicine can bring about real change.
Homoeopathy
is one of the most effective systems of medicine known to man. You
might ask why many people have not heard of homoeopathy, yet the truth is
that it is the most
widely used alternative medicine in the world, with
over 400 million users and practiced
by hundreds of thousands of doctors and professionals world wide, supported
by governments and loved by royalty and celebrities. Homoeopathy has a huge
body of literature, substantial
positive research and an
excellent track record.
You
may ask why homoeopaths are not out there treating AIDS in Africa. The truth
is that there are several
successful homoeopathic projects, yet nowhere near enough. Sadly,
there is little funding for research and clinics for any system of medicine
other than conventional, so that individual homoeopaths must bear the cost
and burden of going it alone. Yet wherever they go, they perform
daily miracles.
.
Homoeopathy
can make a difference, we can make a difference. And you can be part of it!
Your
help and support is much
appreciated.
“History will surely judge us harshly if we do not respond with all the energy and resources that we can bring to bear in the fight against HIV/AIDS.”
